Enable Charting on News Items
In the previous versions, Insightloupe did not allow to create charts on news articles. However, if the news articles have been carefully curated, they may provide valuable information.
In this release we have enabled charting on news items for following fields:
- Publication Year
- you can create combined Priority/Publication/Launch Year charts with Families, Articles, and Products
- Tech tags
- Companies
- Chartable Extras
- Indicator charts
- Document Type
- Extra year(s) (from extra date fields)
News & Clinical Trial items are included in following trends on key companies under companies page:
- Document type chart under key trends
- Technology trend charts under key technologies
- Indicator charts under innovation score
Export Legal Risk Flag
In earlier versions, Insightloupe users can flag patent documents as legally risky but there is no option to export this information via document export. Users had to add this information manually. This used to limit the capability of conducting offline analysis on risky documents or increase the manual effort in doing so which would lead to errors.
In this release we have added an option to export legal risk flag from bulk actions.
- Legal Risk flag is available as an exportable field and can be found under the ‘Legal’ header
- Exported data should correspond to ‘Risk’, ‘No Risk’, ‘Not Marked’
- This option is only available for a user who has legal access to the project
History of Changes on Documents
Insightloupe earlier used to expose details about what changes were made to the document. However, we did not expose information regarding when, who and how the change was made. How is also important for Insighloupe because there are multiple ways to make a change on a document:
- Enrichment page
- Document upload
- Documents page
With this release we also expose the how, when and who of the changes. We are also exposing details corresponding to more fields such as legal risk flag, annotations, etc.
In this release, we have added a Changes History tab in the documents page for all documents except patent families and products. This Changes History tab will:
- identify exactly how, when, and by whom the document was updated
- provide update on all fields. Fields like legal risk flag, annotations, etc. have been included in this tab
- User can choose to hide this tab from tab visibility
Introduce EP Validations via Data Downloads
For the past 8+ years, IPRD operations teams have been using IP Toolkit for various utilities within IPR&D services – Text Analytics tools (fondly called Vancy and Phrasy internally), an Assignee Standardization tool and the EP Validation tool. While it was fully functional, IP Toolkit was also extremely bug-free and maintenance-free. The downside is that it did not receive any security updates in the last 4 years.
So during the recent IT issue we decided to take down IP Toolkit and rebuild the offerings via Insightloupe – which was always part of a much larger plan for Insightloupe Workbench.
As part of this release, we’re introducing the EP Validation tool via Insightloupe’s red server which is our data server that currently provides full patent data downloads.
Introducing Triggers for Alerts
Alerts are used on Insightloupe to monitor developments in a domain of interest. This can either be used to monitor various aspects of a study like:
- Technical developments
- Competitor activity
- Legal Developments, etc.
Till now, Insightloupe used to offer the ability to monitor new documents / families in a domain. In addition to that, it offered the ability to monitor any and every change that happened to the documents in domain of interest.
However, Insightloupe did not provide an intuitive way to trigger alerts only when some specific changes of interest occurred in a document. For example, some attorneys may be interested in only those patents which are marked ‘Risk’ by their team or when the legal status of a competitor’s patent changes from Granted to Opposed.
Note that, we have been providing above services to the clients using a mix of current capabilities of Insightloupe and various smart workarounds, manual processes, pausing and unpausing of alerts, etc. However, they increase the manual effort required in executing these alerts and increases the chances of errors.
In the current release, we are introducing triggers for alerts. These triggers can be used to setup alerts on specific changes to particular fields of interest. For example, changes to legal status, assignees, different types of tags, legal risk flag, chartable extra fields, etc.
Move project administration next to tags page
In the previous version, option to manage administration settings of a project was available under profile section. This was a slight diversion from context that the profile section should have option to manage account level settings but not project level settings.
In this release, we moved out of profile section and placed it under the navigation bar for project (next to “Tags”). This has been renamed to “Manage” and clicking on it should take the user to project administration page.
