Enable Bulk Upload of Attachments for Patents
Adding attachments to a document is a widely used feature of Insightloupe. A classic example is to upload amended claims for a patent. However, if you have 10s or 100s of attachments for various patents, it would be quite a tedious task to search for a patent, go to the attachments tab and upload one attachment at a time.
In this release, we are introducing bulk upload of attachments for patents.
- you can upload a zipped file containing all attachments in the following format
<patent_no>_<title of the attachment>.<extension>- e.g.US1234567A1_Enable_Bulk_Upload.jpg,EP1233242B1_Enable_Bulk_Upload.pdf - erroneous file types or unrecognized patent numbers are discarded and reported back to the user
Expand Data Enrichment Options from Expert View
In the earlier versions, enrichment fields like extra fields and evalueserve annotations were not editable on the expert view of Documents page but they were editable on Enrichment page.
In this release, we removed this discrepancy and enabled editing of extra fields and adding/updating annotations to the repertoire of editing functionality on expert view of the documents page.
Introduce Flexible Chart Axis Area
Insightloupe charts have many configurable options but still many decisions are intrinsic to the product. We have been focusing on increasing the flexibility the end user has to configure charts beyond the default choices. In a previous release, we introduced the ability of the user to set an artificial maximum value for an axis. In this release, we introduce flexible chart axis area. A user can expand or contract the chart area vs axis area in order to appropriately display tick labels that are very long.
Following nuances apply:
- The flexibility is available for both x-axis and y-axis
- Flexible axis area can be customized by dragging the axis for charts on the slide edit page or slide presentation page.
- The changes made in the slide presentation page (during the presentation) are temporary, but if you want to make permanent changes you can customize the axis while editing the slide.
Option to choose patent publication vs family as default document types
Insightloupe is intended to be heavily data driven so there are several pages where a user would be directly interacting with different document types (e.g. patents, scientific articles, news, products) and may have to filter the data by the document types. Insightloupe also aims to encapsulate the IP domain knowledge in way to keep the data complexities at bay while providing the insights at the right granularity. One such top level abstraction is patents vs patent family, and while this abstraction is clear to most IP practitioners it can be confusing to some clients who are from an R&D setup. So far Insightloupe was quite opinionated and assumed that the family view should be the preferred one for all use cases. Even when there is no confusion to the stakeholders, given a specific project requirement it is clear whether a patent family view is required or a patent publication view - and in those cases, the ability to choose one over the other is highly valuable.
In this release, we provide a very easy way to configure default document types as part of display settings of a project. The changes made in these settings are reflected on the following pages:
- Insightloupe Home - document counts on projects list widget
- Documents page - default filters for document type
- Search page - default filters for document type
- Charts page - default filters for document type
