Improved filtering/searching of projects on Project Home
When you search for a project on Insightloupe Home page, you must have scratched your head about why the folders that have no search results are not filtered out automatically. Furthermore, the folders on the left sidebar were also not sticky and you would be scrolling a lot to find the folder in which the required project actually resides.
In this release, we have addressed all these issues so that you can find the required projects more efficiently. Following is the list of enhancements related to project search:
- We have introduced a switch for Show Folders. Using this, you can select whether you want to view a list of all projects or view them in separate folders
- When you search for a project, you’ll notice that folders that have no results are filtered out automatically
- You’ll see that the folders on the left sidebar are made sticky and they can be scrolled independent of the project list
Introduce "What's New" on Insightloupe
Ever wondered “what’s new” on Insightloupe? Or, how can I know about the latest changes? Or, how does this feature work?
You probably did, or you likely will.
Insightloupe has a monthly release cadence, and a lot of new features are released each year and a lot more enhancements are turned in. For the past few years, we have been sharing a summary of the changes every release (every month) in an email blast. But it was just another email, and the message was not reaching the most prolific users of Insightloupe – our analysts. Even if it did – what about those who joined us as colleagues recently, or how do we easily help onboard our customers, or how do we ensure we are making an optimal use of Insightloupe’s features for our client’s benefit?
In this release, we introduce a new feature on Insightloupe that addresses exactly this whitespace (sic). On any instance of Insightloupe:
- You will be notified about the introduction of an updated version of Insightloupe via a red pill on help section.
- You can open the What’s New section and look at all the features and enhancements released in the latest update. A visual demo in the form of an image, gif or video is also available for each entry.
- You can also choose to pick a specific previous version and find entries from that release.
- You can choose picture-in-picture mode to view the video inline.
- You can click on full-screen icon and view the accompanying video in full screen mode.
- The red notification pill disappears once you have seen the changes for the latest version. The pill will be back once again in a future release along with fresh notes corresponding to the version.
Single Page App experience on Insightloupe - a proof of concept
A dynamic platform like Insightloupe or even a static website often has multiple pages and often transitions from one page to another is fraught with delays due to server-side rendering of those pages. The more modern way of building applications is to create a single page app experience such that while the initial load might be longer than before (though not much longer!) the page transitions are smoother and provides for a better user experience. This experience is called a single page app or SPA experience.
The newer SPA experience is introduced in this version and they deliver smoother transitions. In the case of What’s New and Notifications, they are not separate pages and so we do not have to drop the context from which they were invoked – and closing them can take you back to the original context again. Further, in the case of reports page, you can transition between report list, report edit, and report presentation modes - all from the single page; and of course, we can also reach out to What’s New or Notifications sections from here and go back to the report you were editing.
Sort elements of indicator chart by total score
In earlier versions, Insightloupe allowed sorting of elements in parameter 1 (assignees, inventors, etc.) of the Indicator Chart on values of only the first indicator in the list and not on Normalized Total Score of all indicators. This forced users to look for top-rated elements in parameter 1 by scrolling through all the elements in the chart.
In this release, we have added an option to sort Indicator Charts on the Normalized Total Score of all indicators. This option can be found under “Chart Element Order (Parameter 1)” field of advanced settings of indicator chart.
